Portrait photography course

Photographing people is exciting and challenging. In this course, you'll learn how to create (even) better portraits – from preparation and composing the image to image editing in Adobe Lightroom and Portrait Pro. We deliberately work with very simple tools and then move on to professional equipment so you can experience the different possibilities. Furthermore, everyone is not only a photographer but also a model. This way, you'll get to know the side of the camera and the side behind it.

  • Outdoor portrait

  • Foreground / Background

  • better portraits with little additional equipment

  • better portraits with studio equipment

  • Image editing of portraits with Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop and Portrait Pro

Required prior knowledge

  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Lightroom, software installed on your laptop

  • Basic knowledge of photography and your camera – aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance

Course content

Saturday, September 6, 2025

13:30 – 18:30 with 2 x 15-minute breaks (coffee bar open from 13:00)

  • Portrait photography in various settings using different tools. We work in pairs.

  • Play pictures on the computer

  • Image editing with Adobe Lightroom and with Portrait Pro / Retouch4me:
    - Basic processing
    - additional editing options

  • Black and white conversion

  • Export images. Each participant selects three images to present

  • Presentation of results, exchange

Location

The course will take place in our new photo studio in Thayngen (Schlatterweg 11). Information about parking will be provided with the course confirmation.

Costs

CHF 250, including drinks/snacks during breaks

Number of participants

min. 4, max. 8 participants

Each participant will bring their own computer with Adobe Lightroom installed, along with their photography equipment. We also work with Portrait Pro. You can install a free trial version of this software before the course if you're not sure whether you want to use it. We'll send you the link with your registration confirmation, along with the invoice for transferring the course fee.
