Animated mockups

Ecolite AG develops and produces support systems for ventilated facades. On the train of the new Ecolite magazine and the new homepage, which we were allowed to design, the question arose as to how best to represent the mockups of the Ecolite systems. On the one hand, the outer facade should be visible, on the other hand, the support system behind the facade should also be visible. However, it would have been difficult to cut the facade panels so that they were half visible and half behind them could be seen. But of course, such a plate can be cut virtually without any problems. And if you photograph the mockup setup step by step, you can even animate it.
The first step
First, it was necessary to photograph each mockup step by step at each stage of development. With great support from Marko Malchow of Ecolite AG, we disassembled each of the systems, then reassembled them and captured each step with a picture. Here are the individual images of the GH Solar system:

These individual shots could then be combined into one image in which the facade panel is provided half in solid sound and half with strong transparency to make the underlying support system visible:
Variants thanks to digital assembly
Because we have each expansion stage in the file on a separate level, we can, for example, design the transparency of the facade panel differently. We have examined various options. The customer ultimately opted for a diagonal «cut». Here are the options we examined beforehand:
The animation
With the camera on the tripod and careful work, the shots should have been absolutely accurate. However, for example, the weight of the facade panels resulted in minimal passer differences, which we were able to easily correct digitally and thus animate the individual steps. We have animated nine systems so far. Here are two examples:

Because we photographed the individual steps of the animation at high resolution, the data can be analyzed both in Print area as stills as well as as animations on the homepage be used.
